Kristy Werness Senior Account Executive
Perfect pitch isn’t a talent for musicians alone. Kristy Werness should know. In the last seven years, she’s honed that talent into a specialty, crafting compelling story pitches and convincing reporters to give her clients the attention and presence they deserve.
Always on the hunt for opportunities to showcase her clients’ expertise, Kristy enjoys working with them closely and takes particular satisfaction in turning PR skeptics into believers. She regularly generates coverage in a wide spectrum of media outlets by identifying the most compelling angle to a story, researching the topic thoroughly and providing reporters with all the relevant information they need to develop an article. Not only is Kristy a master of the media, but she looks at all available avenues to promote her clients and has developed a niche in booking speaking engagements at top tier business and industry events.
Philosophy: A keen understanding of our clients business and overall goals are essential in producing results that make a difference. When looking for opportunities for coverage, it is important to create a pitch that will ultimately resonate with our clients’ target audiences.
In the Office
One of the aspects of her job Kristy enjoys most is the ongoing opportunity to learn. She delights in meeting many different types of people and relishes immersing herself in clients’ industries. Kristy accomplished this by regularly following mainstream and industry news sites. She can be found listening to NPR, watching CNN and reading the New York Times, U.S. News and World Report and Newsweek, as well as checking the websites of the Los Angeles Times, Associated Press and monitoring Google News. Kristy is also motivated by the sense of ownership she gets from being on top of client projects. In this way, she keeps her finger on all the details and is an invaluable resource when clients and colleagues need a project update at any given time.
Away From the Office
The energy and vivacity Kristy exudes at work can also be seen in the way she embraces life outside the office. Kristy loves dancing, hiking, kayaking and anything active and adventurous. Her compassion for others and lifelong desire to help those less fortunate have motivated Kristy to become a committed volunteer, particularly for organizations working with the homeless. She currently tutors homeless children. Over the years, she has taught convicts to read at a rescue mission in skid row, assisted in placing families in temporary housing, and raised money for homeless shelters dedicated to helping women and children.
