Peter Shaplen serves as chief strategist with Blattel Communications, a national business-to-business public relations and marketing agency. With more than 30 years of intensive and evolutionary broadcast experience, Peter is sought out for message, media and crisis management on behalf of attorneys and their clients, corporate executives, government managers and agencies, and individuals. Leveraging his traditional broadcast background and incorporating Web 2.0 know-how, Peter develops and directs internally and externally focused videos and podcasts in support of thought leadership and other integrated media relations strategies.
Peter has produced and reported stories airing on network news and cable stations, in corporate boardrooms and in multimedia presentations, even for the Broadway stage. Recently, he served as the pool producer for both the Scott Peterson double murder and Michael Jackson molestation trials. Peter was the point person for the media – including 860 credentialed journalists at Peterson and 2,300 registered media from 35 countries who covered Jackson – in accessing the courts, law enforcement and government. Dubbed the "go-to guy" for media by the Los Angeles Times, Peter’s work as a liaison to the courts has made him sought out to assist in educating the judiciary on modern media protocol.
